Topps Baseball BucksTopps inserted these popular dollar bill facsimiles in their 1962 baseball and football wax packs. The design features a player in the bill's center, with some player info filling where typically currency printing usually appears. The set is very condition sensitive and seldom found in top grade. |
Topps Peel-offsTopps inserted these Peel-Offs in their 1963 packs. There are 46 cards in the unnumbered set, each designed to be peeled off and stuck on the book bags of the day. Since the issue was designed to be essentially ruined in its proper use, high grade examples of the Peel Offs are quite scarce. |
Topps CoinsTopps issued this 164 metalic coin set in its 1964 packs. The series is divided into two principal types, 120 regular coins and 44 All-Star coins. There are two variations of the Mantle, Causey and Hinton All-Star coins and numerous numbers which are more difficult than the rest of the set. The coin rims were sensitive to chipping and the back to rusting, making high grade examples hard to come by. |
Topps EmbossedInserted in regular 1965 packs, the 1965 Topps Embossed was one of the more fascinating issues of the company. The fronts feature an embossed profile portrait on gold-foil like cardboard. The player's name, team and position is below the portrait - which is good because most of the embossed portraits are otherwise non-recognizable. |
Topps Rub OffsReturning to a concept last tried in 1961, Topps included an expanded version of the Rub-Offs in 1966 wax and cello packs. The Rub-Offs are in vertical format for the 100 players and horizontal format for the 20 team logos. Cutting procedures have made finding well centered examples a near impossibility. |
Topps Pin-upsThese 5" by 7" Pin Ups were inserted in 1967 Topps baseball wax and cello packs. The 32 card set consists of many big names including Mantle, Clemente, Rose, Mays and Aaron.
|
Topps GameTopps offered this 33 card set as inserts in Series 3 through 5 wax, rack and cello packs back in 1968. The set not only brings together most of the major HOFers of the era, but it actually creates a reasonable playing game. Later in the season, Topps sold the game separately in a box called "Batter Up." |
Topps DecalsThis bright, colorful decals were offered in the cellos and racks in 1969. Consisting of only 48 players, the set contains most of the stars of the day including Mays, Aaron, Yaz, Rose, Seaver and Jackson. The decals are mounted on a white paper backing, against which the centering of a given decal is measured. Detached decals have little or no value. |
Topps DecklesTopps inserted these black and white photos - who take their name from the borders which have a scalloped effect. While there are only 33 cards, two variations exist - card #11 can be found with Wilhelm or Wynn and card #22 can be found with Staub or Foy. |
Topps Baseball PostersTopps issued this 24 poster set in its wax packs as the standard pack went from 5 cards for a nickle in 1969 to 10 cards for a dime in 1970. Although there are Hall of Famers such as Rod Carew, Johnny Bench and Frank Robinson in the set, many of the players represented are minor stars and commons. |
Topps Story Booklets Topps issued this mini comic strip booklet in its regular series packs of cards. The booklets feature the player in comic-strip form, showing the highlights of his early pre-professional career or career highlights. |
Topps CoinsTopps revisited its 1964 coin insert with the release of 1971 Baseball Coins, available in several series wax packs. Complete at 153, the coins feature a color photo of the player surrounded by a band showing the player name, team and position. As with previous coin issues, these inserts are extremely prone to chipping on the rims and rusting on the reverse. Most of the stars of the period are included in this popular insert set. |
